Hi Students,
We will continue using FreeRice.com as our vocabulary tool. As explained in class, when you come to ELA, you should have a total of 40 words presented. See the previous blog entry for instructions.
Soon, we will begin using Padlet.com online commentary tool to discuss the novel Truancy. To the few students who have NOT turned in their chapters 1-11 assignment, it is imperative that you do immediately, as we will begin interactive discussions next week.
Regretfully, you will continue losing points during this type of engagement because you have not read the novel. At this late date, when you turn in your Truancy assignment your possible score is 91/132, which is greater than 0/132. So please complete and turn in by next Tuesday. Thank you.
Speaking of Truancy, I have enjoyed reading the submitted journal entries. They have been insightful and thoughtful. Thank you, thank you.
Last, I am uploading grades this weekend. By Sunday night, all students should have updated grades.
See you Monday.

Vocabulary Homework for 1A, 2A, 4A, and 8B, Due This Week
Students we are going to increase our word knowledge using multiple sources and strategies.
Free Rice.com is one source. You can access the site by logging in at freerice.com or choosing the link listed under LINKS to the right.
Once you have accessed the site, DO NOT log in...no need to. You can begin the vocabulary assignment without logging in.
Next, choose the Level by clicking the link. Change the level to Level 8. This is important to ensure you are getting the grade appropriate words.
Then, for each word interaction follow this model:
1. Write the Vocabulary word as it appears, write the equal (=) sign, and choose and write the word that is closely related to the vocabulary word. Click the word you chose. The computer will indicate "correct " or "incorrect."
2. If your answer is correct, place a check mark next to it. If incorrect, place an x mark and then write the correct response.
Each night, interact with 20 words. = 20 points.
Don't forget to choose Level 8.
8B - due Thursday
1A, 2A, and 4A - due Friday
Do well and learn words!

HW due Wednesday, December 4th for 1A and 4A students. 2A and 8B will receive this assignment next week!
Students of 1 and 4A,
This assignment is due Wednesday, December 4th. Open the Buckminster Fuller Analysis graphic organizer. Click this link
1. Complete it. Ensure you read the table's titles and answer each corresponding question thoroughly. Use my in-class example as a model. Again, be thorough!
2. Each column is worth 2 pts, total 12 points for each test question analyzed.
3. There are five questions on the Buckminster Fuller test, therefore you are to complete the entire graphic organizer for each test question. For example,
Test question #1 x 2 (pts. per column) x 6 (columns) = 12 points for question #1
4. The entire assignment is worth 60 pts.
Do an effective job!
Also, if you like, download the graphic organizer and type or write in your responses. Otherwise, hand draw the graphic organizer and write your responses.
Reminder: Assignment is due Wednesday, worth 60 points.

TRUANCY chapters 1-11 are DUE!
Hi Parents,
If your child is in my A Day class, their Truancy chapters 1-11 were due today. If I did not receive their product, it is considered late - and percentage points are deducted. An extension has been given. The due date is next Tuesday before we break for the holiday. IF THEY DO NOT TURN IT IN, IT IS LIKELY THEIR OVERALL 9 WEEK GRADE WILL NOT BE FAVORABLE, as this assignment is worth over 100 points.
Please ensure they refer to the previous blog entries for instruction and turn in Tuesday.
If your child is in my B Day classes, their assignment is due Monday - this is the on-time date.
Thanks. Enjoy your weekend.

Truancy, Chapters 5-8
Hi Students,
I left my Truancy novel and notes for this week's assignment at school, accidentally of course. So, due to my error, you will only be responsible for chapters 5-7 - journal readings for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I will post the assignment Tuesday during my planning period.
So sorry for the inconvenience I have caused. Enjoy your Veterans Day celebration tomorrow.
