Here is a brief recap of our learning and activities completed during the fifth week of school and a preview of what’s to come this week.

Week 5 Review

During whole -and small-group discussions, we learned, practiced, and applied strategies to determine the Author's Purpose.

Deconstructing and Constructing text

 

Week 6 Preview

Students will gain insight into an Author'sPerspective via the identification and analysis of voice, style, and tone.

 

*Other Strategies practiced:

Deconstructing and Constructing text and analyzing word choice and descriptive (sensory) details, also known as imagery that reveal an author's perspective (attitude/feelings) about the message.

*In-Class Novel Reading: Truancy.  Students, please secure the book by September 20th

Week 4 Review

During whole -and small-group discussions, we learned, practiced, and applied the strategies to unlock Context Clues: Definition, Restatement/Synonym, Compare & Contrast, Example/Explanation, Punctuation and the General Sense of the Sentence.

*Other Strategies practiced:

Deconstructing and Constructing text & and the 4-Step Prefix Strategy.
